After reading the article of the day, I paid attention to the morning rituals of my co-workers. I’m amazed at what some folks consume, especially in the sugar department. It’s currently 8:45, I’ve seen 32oz fountain cokes, iced teas hefty pours of sugar in probably a 16 oz serving, cups of coffee loaded with creamer and a few spoons of white sugar, and those are just the drinks. I realize I’m not completely innocent, as I do add a pack of raw sugar my frappe, but is there a way to approach this without sounding preachy?
Lastly, on a gloomy, rainy, gray day like today, this picture really turned my attitude around.

Hey Justin/Sean,
I know thurs at 7:30 are for OLY but I was wondering if it was possible to do a makeup WOD at that time? Is that aloud? if not I understand. Thanks.

Dole, I know what you mean. I have a bad sweet tooth, and I used to eat anything put in front of me at work. Doughnuts, cake, pastries, bagels, you name it. Looking back now I can't believe it. I think I'd feel sick if I ate that kind of garbage now.
As for your question, no, there is no way to approach this without being preachy. If someone asks you, sure, but otherwise it just seems like butting in.

My question is the same as Kevin's above. If not, then that's perfectly cool.

I feel really stupid today - can you someone explain what the quote of the day means? "Health is the vital principal of bliss of health."...that's kind of like saying round is the vital principal of circles.

to be blissful, you need health
and to be healthy, you need exercise

I sucked today and would have tapped out if not for this post.
Conversation after WOD:
U of Iowa Freshman "Man (as in old man), what was that workout you were doing"
Me: (In between gasps) "CrossFit...breath..crossfit.com check it out"
Frosh: "looked hard as hell"
Note - bench presses full. Expect that from my homies at U of Florida but the young Hawkeyes working on the beach muscles too.

Regs,
Next time you post a picture of yourself with Grace please make sure to change YOUR piss-pants. I know you're excited but...C'mon man.

Grown ass woman story.. haha .. ok .. not really.. but I am impressed with myself and wanted to share. Before starting cross fit... I would have never attempted to carry a 30lb bag of dog food- even out of a store; I always depended on my husband to carry everything (pathetic, I know). Today I literally with my two dogs in one hand and a bag of groceries around my other arm, put a 30lb bag of dog food over my shoulder and carried everything and walked my dogs through my high rise building.. getting lots of stares along the way and three men stopping to see if I needed help. I got it. Ok.. not that great of an accomplishment, but it was not difficult to say the least, and I am feeling pretty strong/impressed with myself! Thank you cross fit, because of you my dogs won’t starve!

Love the photo of Grace. Cutest arm ever.
Katrina -- that's awesome. It's all about functional movement, and hauling stuff is about as functional as it gets. It's a great feeling when you're doing something like that and then realize, "Hey, this used to be impossible for me!" Or so I've been told.

Katrina...that is frickin' sweet. Your story is an inspiration to all of us. I hope you continue to share these accomplishments with the community. They serve as great motivation and are a phenomenal testament that what we are doing is making us better at life. I'm loving the vision of you strutting through your building, guns a-blazin'. You're a badass. A real badass.

Thank you! To all of you in there cheering me on during the 4:30 class, you are all amazing. The thing that love most about WCCF is that the place is just filled with LOVE. Thanks for the encouraging words, I would not have made it through tonight without it.

Awesome old school posts today. Except Ocho. Dick.
Posted by: Regs | August 27, 2009 at 10:38 PM
Agree with Regs, way to take it back like Fab Five Freddie and Downtown Julie Brown. Katrina, that is an awesome story but did you clean it up to the shoulder, snatch it up there? Just wondering in case I'm ever in that situation.
What up WH, Key, and Logan? Get some lemon Ricotta for me tomorrow.

Tonight I made up Wednesday's WOD. Oh man. Brutal, but yet so good. Great actually. About halfway through it something clicked and I realized how strong the mental aspect is with all of this. Instead of just doing the workout, I really wrapped my mind around and told myself I can keep going. And I did. Tonight I really started feeling stronger. It's actually the first RX'd workout for me. It's really exciting. Then Kelly jumped in to help push me to finish and did the workout herself. Thank you Kelly!!. How great is that! I've been at WCCF for almost 2 months and it's such a motivating and great environment. Everyone is awesome.
I'd also like to tell my wife Katrina how proud I am of her! She's been making such great progress and been doing such a great job. Everybody has. Thank you all for being great.
